headoffice3, leaders in Design and Build projects, are building the UK's largest intumescent paint testing laboratory and R&D centre for Jotun Paints - a leading supplier of paints and powder coatings. Glen Harding, CEO of headoffice3 says “In order to fully comprehend the extent of their needs and the subsequent works thereof, 3 of our team (including an architect) flew to Dubai to look at the plant and facilities there. Following this we carried out a feasibility study of various sites and Naik Court, Flixborough was chosen as the most suitable option.” Jotun purchased the site in 2015 and headoffice3 are carrying out the major transformation, due to complete in Q1 2017. The development will bring more employment to the area and provide a unique facility for testing the specialist coatings that Jotun manufacture on the 6 acres site where they have operated for over 3 decades. The new development boasts safe viewing areas for the non-accessible places for visitors to look at testing works in progress and will add a major benefit to the sites already rich resources. Reporting from site headoffice3's Project Manager, states “this has been a technical project with many aspects requiring our very specialist skills in coordinating a technical brief with an inhouse design team”. The project included a massive piling operation within the building and casting a new floor slab and has complex M&E specifications included ATEX rated areas. The mezzanine floor is now installed providing over 20,990 sq ft internal floor space, the curtain walling and cladding is almost complete and the substation is installed providing power to the new state-of-the-art furnaces now being commissioned. Headoffice3 specialise in time-critical and complex projects and have an in-house team of architects and engineers.
