HeadOffice3 was appointed Principal Contractor to deliver the interior design and fit-out the apartments within the Drapers Bridge development — a landmark office-to-residential conversion in the heart of Nottingham.

This ambitious project saw the complete internal strip-out of the historic former drapery HQ, including the removal of the central stone staircore and associated spine and side walls.  The shell of the building was retained, while the entire internal structure was reimagined to create 23 contemporary residential units.

Externally, the building was wrapped in scaffolding to allow for comprehensive façade restoration and the installation of new heritage-style windows.  Internally, our focus was on celebrating the building’s original character.  Exposed beams were carefully restored and integrated into open-plan living spaces with sloping ceilings, bringing warmth and texture to the modern interiors.

One of the project’s most distinctive features was the iconic Drapers Bridge itself — now incorporated as a dramatic feature as the living space of a third-floor apartment.  At roof level, expansive terraces were formed to serve executive loft-style penthouses, creating standout city views and private outdoor amenity space.
