In 2016, a former office building in Winchester’s conservation area was transformed into seven luxury apartments through a sensitive conversion and extension project in which headoffice3 managed the full design and construction.  The scheme involved a three-storey rear extension, alterations to the existing roof form including the addition of dormer windows and rooflights to enhance natural light.  A roof terrace was incorporated to extend the layout of the residential apartments.  Cycle storage and waste bin provisions were accommodated in the rear courtyard and all single-glazed windows were replaced with modern double-glazed units.  The retained front façade was complemented by the white-rendered rear façade and extension, while the mansard roof was finished in slate.  This comprehensive refurbishment respected the building’s heritage while providing high-quality residential accommodation in the heart of Winchester.
