Alex Peace | Purchasing Manager

With five years at headoffice3 this year, Alex has become a key part of the team, managing purchasing across a wide range of projects and helping keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. Although this is his first role within the construction industry, he brought with him years of purchasing experience and has quickly adapted that knowledge to the fast-paced world of construction.

“I’ve been working in purchasing most of my career but this is my first job in construction. It’s been great to get to know a new industry whilst still being able to lean on previous experiences.”

Known for his organisation and attention to detail, Alex always makes sure every specification and requirement is fully understood before orders are placed. His careful approach helps projects stay on track and ensures the team has exactly what they need at the right time.

First Project at Headoffice3

Alex joined headoffice3 midway through the Arlington House project, but Great George Street was the first scheme he was involved with from the very beginning. Having previously worked in furniture procurement, stepping into the construction industry brought plenty of new challenges and learning opportunities.

Working across these varied schemes allowed Alex to quickly build relationships with suppliers and the wider project teams, whilst adapting his previous purchasing experience to suit the fast-paced nature of construction.

A Standout Project

One of Alex’s favourite projects has been Sugarwell Court, a large student residential scheme that transformed Sugarwell into modern student accomodation while carefully preserving the character of some listed buildings.  The scheme delivered 451 ensuite student bedrooms across 7 blocks, alongside a range of new communal spaces including social hubs, a gym, cinema room and communal kitchens.

For Alex, this project stood out because it combined construction and furniture procurement, allowing him to bring together knowledge from both his past and present experience on a fast-paced and highly detailed scheme.

The project also involved sourcing and coordinating a wide range of materials, finishes and furnishings across multiple phases, all while working within the constraints of listed buildings and an occupied city-centre environment. The result is an award-shortlisted development that successfully blends heritage features with modern student living.

Reflecting on his time at headoffice3 so far, Alex says the people have been one of the highlights of the role.

He has also enjoyed being part of initiatives such as the ‘headofficetree’ scheme, where a tree is planted for every project the company wins, and even helped plant the very first one. On the last staff day out, Alex was also part of the winning team during the Crystal Maze-style challenge day — taking on everything from bridge building to marble run challenges.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at HO3 so far and learnt so much. The teams have changed a lot since I started, but everyone has been a pleasure to work with and learn from.”
